FAQ

General

Established in 2011, Dragon's Tear Tavern is a social gaming community built on respect, acceptance, and a history of playing all types of games. Our commitment is to provide a safe environment for making long term friends in a physical and virtual space regardless of the games you play! Whether you enjoy board games, RPGs, video and/or PC games, or just talking strategy and meta about your favorite games, our community is for you. Join us at the Table!!!

Dragon’s Tear Tavern requires all potential members to read and acknowledge the “New Member Rules” which set the expectations on acceptable behavior in our community and for specific games. You should see the #new-member-rule-agreement channel, please read all rules posted and click the [I Agree] button. You will then be given member status and access to all text and voice channels.

While the DTT community started in Pacific Time (-7/-8 GMT), we are growing and now have members around the world. Calendar events are posted in PT.

DTT was formed to prevent our community from depending on a specific game and losing members when a new game comes out. Regardless of the game(s) being played, friends can play with friends, and no one is forced into one mold.

Just because a specific game doesn't have a dedicated channel or calendar entry, doesn’t mean the community doesn’t (or hasn’t) played it. Ask about your favorite game in the #tavern text channel and let’s talk about it. If it’s something we haven’t played, introduce us to it and bring your friends and start playing it. If it gets popular enough, we will create a special channel for it.

Our mainstream activities are posted on our Discord and website calendar. Anyone is welcome to join/participate in any event that interests you. Join us on Discord and let’s play!

Contact a DTT administrator, officer, or game ambassador and they will talk to you about your event and enter it onto the calendar. If your event needs to be hyped, we can help with that on Discord and our social media if appropriate.

If it is a general question feel free to post in the Discord #tavern text channel and one of our Admins, Officers, or Game Ambassadors will get back to you. If it is a sensitive topic, send a DM in Discord to @CommanderDoug or @Haddie. If you do not have access to Discord, you can email This email address is being protected from spambots. DTT is long rooted in World of Warcraft, calling all the way back to the original release, and we continue to play today! If you are interested in joining us, we play on the Crushridge server, just let us know of your interest and we would be happy to help you succeed in the current content (no matter which faction you chose). The Dragon’s Tear Tavern guild is a Horde guild, but with recent changes and published intent to be faction agnostic, we will accept Alliance members as soon as we are able.

Virtual Game Nights

We play board games virtually on Tabletop Simulator (TTS) through Steam, every Saturday starting at 6 PM PT.

To participate in Virtual Game Nights, you will need:

  1. Tabletop Simulator (TTS) installed on your PC. You do NOT need to install any of the games, unless you are hosting a server or teaching a game. Our Game Ambassadors will provide instructions on how to connect to and play the virtual board games.
  2. Connect to our Discord server to communicate verbally during each individual game (requires a microphone and speakers/headset). You can connect to DTT discord using the phone app or on your PC.

DTT members start showing up in the Main Tavern voice channel at 6 PM PT (-7/-8 GMT). The members typically play an opener game waiting for additional members to arrive. During the opener game, we discuss and decide on the first round of games to be played based on the groups interests and the total number of players. The members then split into different voice channels for the games they have decided to play. When the games are completed, they join the Main Tavern voice channel and repeat the process of deciding and playing games. At the end of the game night, we decide on a simple and fun closing game which typically includes everyone remaining in Discord.

We play a mix of different board, dice, and card games during Virtual Game Nights, and you can find an approved list of vetted games here. If you have an interest in getting a scripted TTS game added to our list, please ask one of the Game Ambassadors to help you.

Board Game Nights

Board Game Nights refers to our in-person Board Game nights held monthly on the second Saturday of every month from 5:00 – 10:00 PM PT.

Currently our only in-person Board Game Nights are at the Round Table Pizza at 2506 E Chapman Ave, Fullerton, CA 92831 (USA). If you have an interest in establishing an in-person Board Game Night in your city, please reach out to @CommanderDoug or @Haddie on Discord. We can help with planning and advertising.

Typically, members will bring games and ask for players to join them. Participants are welcome to join any table that has room.  Gamers are encouraged to bring whatever game(s) they’d like to play, but to keep in mind they don’t have to bring games as there are usually plenty to pick from.  If a game doesn’t get played on one night, it might at the next game night.
